St. Paul Lutheran School is known for providing a quality education with a faith-based foundation for children from preschool through eighth grade. But, with no state or federal funding available, the school depends on donations, modest tuition, and fund raising efforts. Since 1996 the annual auction has helped by contributing some additional much needed revenue to the school. The proceeds from previous year’s events have enabled the school to purchase items such as playground equipment, computer science equipment, computer and software upgrades, choral risers, textbooks, lockers for the upper grades, teaching aides and much more.
Harvey Mackay, a columnist for United Feature Syndicate, author of four New York Times best-sellers, and the man referred to as “Mr. Make Things Happen” by Fortune Magazine, once wrote, “Ideas without action are worthless.” Past auctions have been a success due to the actions of so many individuals. Each of us has a talent or idea we can share. Consider sharing yours. Sewing, gardening, computer know-how, music, cooking, scrap booking, gift wrapping – all are wonderful ideas for how to share your special gifts and help raise money for the school. If none of these interest you, how about donating your time. Many hands are always needed to solicit donations, put together decorations, help set-up, etc. So mark your calendars, start planning and working on your project, and contact a member of the Auction Committee and let them know how you can help.
